Dr. Sara Schmidt

Dr. Sara Schmidt has been selected as principal of Kaiserslautern High School. Most recently, she served as community superintendent for the Kaiserslautern Military Community area schools.

Dr. Schmidt brings more than 12 years of experience as a school administrator serving DoWEA families at Lakenheath Middle School, Lakenheath Elementary School, and Spangdahlem (Bitburg) Elementary School. In her new role, she will prioritize strong relationships, meaningful family engagement, and high-quality instructional experiences for all students.

Throughout her career, Dr. Schmidt has focused on fostering a strong sense of community among students, staff, and families, with an emphasis on instructional excellence and expanding access to programs for all learners. She played a key role in supporting the DoWEA Middle School AAPS Pilot program, developing master schedules that prioritize co-teaching, and celebrating student success through initiatives such as monthly Spotlight recognitions and biannual Fine Arts Evening events. Her commitment to servant leadership and equitable access has consistently guided her work, ensuring high-quality educational experiences for students, educators, and families.

Prior to transitioning into school leadership, Dr. Schmidt taught at Yokota West Elementary School, multiple Japanese high schools through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, and P.S. 19K in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Dr. Schmidt holds a Doctor of Education with a specialization in E-Learning from Northcentral University, a Master of Education in Building Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, a Master of Science in Education from St. John’s University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iowa State University.

She is honored to assume the role of principal and is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, engagement, and collaboration at Kaiserslautern High School.
